Welcome

Welcome to Wadokai Aikido of Indianapolis! We practice the Suenaka-ha (Suenaka style) Tetsugaku-ho (philosophical way) style of Aikido. We are one of many Wadokai dojos across the mid-western and south-eastern parts of the US and regularly hold seminars where several of our brethren attend. Our atmosphere is familial and supportive. Our practice is traditional, serious, and committed. Aikido is practiced by individuals from all walks of life, both young and old. We accept new students on an ongoing and contingent basis and encourage you to attend a trial class (your first class is free).

Class Times

Saturdays: 10 am – 12 noon
Sundays: 5 – 7 pm

First time students should wear comfortable clothing such as a tshirt and sweats that allow for comfortable movement. Shorts are not recommended, due to tumbling and groundwork activities.

Location

We are located near the intersection of 96th and Michigan, our address is 4243 West 96th street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46268. From Interstate 465, take the Michigan Road exit and head north. Take a left at the light following the interchange (96th street) and we’re in the second lot on the left. It is a gray mini-mall type building with the red letters “KARATE” on the front. We have been generously loaned space to train by Shihan Jerry Hansman.

Instructor

Dusty Blair Sensei attained the rank of shodan in 2013. He is a student of Paul Laudeman Sensei who runs Aikido of Suenaka-Ha of Bloomington.

Blair Sensei welcomes you as a unique individual suitable for training irrespective of your background, skills, or physical ability. The best way for you to decide if Aikido is right for you is to join us on the mat for a free class. This will afford you the opportunity to see first-hand our welcoming class atmosphere and dedication for new students. You should plan to arrive 10 minutes early in order for introductions and to go over the necessary paperwork. Once you have made the decision to join our dojo, please be prepared to write a check for the first month’s practice fee ($50) and annual membership fee ($45). Monthly dues are payable by the first Sunday of each month and we do not require contracts.
